Clay Pottery / Ceramics Classes

Summer Morning Adult Clay Class
Thursdays 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM (6-week course)
Instructor: Michaela Kuhn
Offered May 31st to July 12th (no class on July 6th)
Look forward to tapping into your creative side one day per week. Explore the world of clay by hand-building or throwing on the wheel.
$180. tuition + $35. supply fee*

Summer Clay Workshop Classes
Wednesday 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Instructor: Jayne Bernanke
Workshop 1 (2-day): May 30 & June 6
Intermediate workshop - prior throwing skills required. Expand your horizons and discover your inner creativity by learning techniques to create different shapes, carve, embellish your pot. Come to this workshop, create a pot and in the next session, we will demonstrate creative ways to individualize your pot.
Workshop 2 - June 13: Handbuilding. Make a plate, platter, tray and learn how to add handles, texturize the bottom, make different shapes on the sides, add flowers, leaves. You can bring a plate that has a shape you like and we can expand on that format.
Workshop 3 - June 20: Handbuilding. Vase creation. Learn techniques to make different shapes and add your own designs.
Workshop 4 - June 27: Handbuilding. Textures, weaving or apply something new you have learned and make something of your own creation. Example: make another platter but add a bowl to make a chip and dip set.
Workshop 4 - July 11: Glazing. Finish and decorate the items you've created during these workshops to add a bit of color and personal flair.

Summer Int/Adv. Wheel Class
5-week course

Intermediate Wheel Class
Mondays 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM (8-week course)

Classes starting August 20, 2018
This class is designed for anyone with the desire to advance their work in clay. Students will have the opportunity to work at the wheel if they have previous throwing experience! We will concentrate on intermediate wheel techniques and improving your skills.

Beginner Wheel Class

An introduction to the pottery wheel and throwing technique. Small class size accommodates beginning students and allows each person to work at their own pace under the teacher's guidance

Learn the basics of throwing clay on the wheel one morning per week.

Mondays 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM (for the duration of the summer, a new open schedule will start in the Fall)

Enjoy a little extra time to complete unfinished projects.
Drop-in (non-student) rates:

Current student rates:
$20. / evening & weekend studio time without instruction
$10. / morning studio time without instruction
Please note: Due to the nature of kiln firing, student pieces occasionally explode or are otherwise damaged. The Clay Cottage and Art Studio does its best to prevent damage to your work; however, there is the potential that any piece fired in the kiln could incur damage beyond our control. By allowing your pottery to be fired at the Clay Cottage and Art Studio, you acknowledge this risk and will not hold the studio liable for any damage to your work. Thanks for understanding!
